Perez Sports Associates’ client Hakeem Valles (TE, Monmouth) was a hot commodity during the late rounds of the 2016 NFL Draft, receiving interest from nearly ten teams. Shortly after Mr. Irrelevant was announced, Valles agreed to terms with the Arizona Cardinals, where he is expected to compete for an active-roster spot as the team’s pass-catching option at tight end.
“We’re very proud of Hakeem and all that he stands for,” said John Perez, Valles’ agent. “He has the character and work ethic to be a ten-year professional, and we’re confident that he’ll take full advantage of his opportunity in Arizona.”
Valles was a late riser in the draft process, registering some of the top testing times of all the tight ends in this year’s class. He received contract offers from five teams, including the Falcons and Buccaneers, but the Cardinals proved to be the best fit.
“From the workout with Arizona to all the interaction afterward, we felt like it was the best situation for him and his career. He’s thrilled to be a Cardinal,” said Perez.
The Cardinals rookie minicamp is set to get underway on Friday, May 6, and will run through Sunday, May 8.
